There are a few basic rules to follow:
1 - Water when the soil is dry and then water well.
2 - During the growing season (roughly April to September) add a Cacti & succulent feed when watering.
3 - Don't put plants in direct sunlight - your plant could scorch.
4 - Where possible use rain water or de-chlorinated water when watering.
5 - If you notice little flies around your plant, they are likely to be fungus gnats. Unfortunately these are incredibly common and annoying! However there are ways to keep them at bay. Here are some suggestions to try:
* Put a thick layer of cinnamon or diatomaceous earth on top of the soil.
* Diatomaceous earth can also be mixed in the soil to kill the larvae before they can grow into adults.
* Use dried coffee grinds or gravel mulch as a top layer to stop the females from laying anymore eggs.
* Use sticky fly catchers to catch the adults and reduce eggs laid,
* Some suggest adding a layer of baking soda before watering. This penetrates to soil and kills the larvae.
Please bear in mind that all home environments are different so keep an eye on how quickly the soil dries and if the room is light enough.
Of course you can! If there is a specific colour combination you'd like and a shape or media you'd like just email us your idea and we'll do all we can to accommodate you.
